ABOUT

From our humble beginnings in 1969 as Rickman Baptist Mission, RFBC was incorporated November 1, 1970 and became a member of Riverside Baptist Association in October of 1972. We are members of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and Southern Baptist Convention and we are on mission to see lost people come to know Jesus Christ and to encourage believers to maturity through discipleship and ministry service opportunities. God’s Word is our authority and we believe it is essential that believers be transformed by His Word in order to effectively accomplish the commands of Jesus to go and make disciples. We actively engage in and support local and foreign missions to fulfill His command. Rickman is a growing and caring community and RFBC is located in the heart of it all…and our desire is to have God’s heart for Rickman and beyond.

Three_Crosses_at_Sunset-1Why Do I Need Jesus?

1. God made us for Himself and our souls are restless until they find Jesus. Only He can fill the void in one’s life, so we must accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. How do you accept Jesus? Let us turn to God’s Word. The Bible says we are all sinners:
Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
2. Sin separates a person from God:
Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”
3. God sent His Son Jesus to remove the sin barrier:
1 Peter 2:24 “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed.”Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”2 Corinthians 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
4. You receive Jesus Christ by faith. Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you as revealed in His Word, the Bible:
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.Acts 16:31 “So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”Romans 10:9-10 “9-that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10-For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

5. Through prayer you can admit to God that you are a sinner, repent of your sinfulness, asking Him to forgive your sins, and for Jesus to come into your life as Lord and Savior. If you have done this, then welcome to the family of God. We would like to encourage you for accepting Christ, but we also want to encourage you to be obedient according to God’s Word and be baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ. We also advise you to find and unite in fellowship with a local church that preaches and teaches God’s Word so that you continue in faith the transformation that brings believers to maturity in their Christian life.
